Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum: Review & Tasting Notes
About Sailor Jerry Rum
Sailor Jerry Rum was created in honour of Norman 'Sailor Jerry' Collins - an American ex-Navy tattoo artist, born in 1911 in California and later settling in Hawaii. Collins became renowned for his distinctive style and for tattoo sailors. Owned by William Grant & Sons, Sailor Jerry is the second biggest selling spiced rum in the world after Captain Morgan's Spiced Rum.
In 2010 the recipe for the UK market was altered to focus more on spice, with less vanilla and lime, and in 2018 the labelling was redesigned. World Rum Guide Review Sailor Jerry Rum is a versatile and fragrant spiced rum, ideal as an affordable option for mixing and cocktails. While slightly too harsh for sipping neat, the flavour is bold with winter spices and vanilla, and the colour is rich and appealing. Serving with ginger beer and lime makes for an enjoyable combination. - Paul Jackson, 2018 |
