Bacardi Carta Oro Rum: Review & Tasting Notes
About Bacardi Carta Oro Rum
Bacardi Carta Oro Rum, named 'oro' from the Spanish word for 'gold', is produced in Puerto Rico and is a blend of 14 molasses-based rums. The rums are aged 1-2 years in bourbon barrels before being passed through a blend of charcoals. Formerly named 'Barcardi Gold Rum', it was relaunched in 2014 as Carta Oro with an increase in ABV from 37.5% to 40%.
World Rum Guide Review Bacardi Carta Oro Rum is an accessible entry-level rum that is best served in long drinks such as a Cuba Libre. While somewhat harsh on the nose and palate it is not intended for neat drinking but does carry expected characteristics of vanilla, caramel and light oak. It fits the role well as an affordable mixing rum. - Paul Jackson, 2018 |
